Climate of Madhya Pradesh
Features:
- Madhya Pradesh is located in the Subtropical Climate region and the Tropical monsoon climate is found here.
- The Tropic of Cancer passes through 14 districts of Madhya Pradesh like Ratlam, Ujjain, Agar-Malwa, Rajgarh, Sehore, Bhopal, Vidisha, Rej, Sagar, Damoh, Katni, Jabalpur, Umaria, and Shahdol.
- Madhya Pradesh is called the highlands because most of its parts are about 300 meters above sea level.
- Madhya Pradesh is a land-dependent state, so it has a continental type of climate.
- Semi-arid in the west and northwest of the state, sub-humid in the northern parts, and humid climate in the south-eastern parts.
- The state receives rainfall through both the southwest monsoon branches, such as the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal.

Summer Season
- From March to Mid June
- Bhind is the hottest district
- May is the hottest month and the maximum temperature is 40 degrees Celcius.
Monsoon Season
- Southwest monsoon arrives by Mid June (responsible for maximum rainfall in the state) and remains till October.
- The Mumbai branch of the Arab Sea monsoon is responsible for rainfall in the western region of the state.
- The Kerala branch of the Arab sea monsoon is responsible for rainfall in the south-east region of the state.
- Maximum monsoon receiving districts- Betul, Chhindwara, Siwani, Balaghat, Mandla, Dindori, and Anuppur.
Winter Season
- From mid-October to February.
- The peak from December to January.
- Coolest district- Morena
