a) World Bank

The World Bank has recently released the ‘Commodity Markets Outlook report for October 2022’. As per the report, Global energy prices will ease in the next couple of years but remain higher than the historic average.
The report also noted that Energy prices are expected to fall by 11 per cent in 2023 and 12 per cent in 2024.

c) Uttar Pradesh

The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath inaugurated North India’s first hyper-scale data centre Yotta Yotta D1. The centre in UP has been built at the cost of Rs. 5,000 crores and is spread over an area of 3,00,000 square feet at the upcoming Data Centre Park in Greater Noida.

c) Gujarat

Over 140 people including 40 women and 34 children were killed in the collapse of a 135-year-old suspension bridge on Machchhu river in Morbi.
The 754-feet bridge on the Machchu river was built during British rule in the 19th Century. It collapsed four days after it was reopened, after being closed for over seven months for repair and renovation work. It is a popular tourist attraction known as Julto Pul (swinging bridge).

d) France

Indian Air Force (IAF) and French Air and Space Force (FASF) are participating in a bilateral exercise, named ‘Garuda VIl’ at Air Force Station Jodhpur.
In this exercise, the IAF is participating with Su-30 MKI, Rafale, LCA Tejas and Jaguar fighter aircraft, as well as the Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) and Mi-17 helicopters. This is the seventh edition of the bilateral exercise.

Under UAPA, both Indian and foreign nationals can be charged. It will apply to the offenders in the same manner, even if a crime is committed in a foreign land, outside India. Hence, statement 1 is correct.

The police normally have 60 to 90 days to investigate a case and submit a charge-sheet failing which the accused may obtain default bail. However, under the UAPA, this pre-charge sheet time is extended to 180 days. Further, normal bail rules do not apply to an accused under Section 43(d)5 of the UAPA. Hence, statement 2 is correct.

Under the Act, an investigating officer is required to obtain the prior approval of the Director General of Police to seize properties that may be connected with terrorism. The Bill adds that if the investigation is conducted by an officer of the National Investigation Agency (NIA), the approval of the Director General of NIA would be required for seizure of such property. Hence, statement 3 is incorrect.
Recently, Prime Minister said that Central laws such as the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) had given an impetus to the system in a decisive fight against terrorism.
