c) Indian Navy

Indian Navy’s operational level Exercise TROPEX (TROPEX) 2023 concludes in the Arabian Sea this week. About 70 Indian Navy ships, six submarines and over 75 aircraft participated in the exercise, the Indian Navy said. As part of the final joint phase, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh also participated. This exercise was conducted in the expanse of the Indian Ocean region over a period of four months.

a) Manipur

The festival is celebrated every year on the full moon of Lamta month (February-March) of the Meitei lunar calendar.
· The festival is celebrated by the Meitei people who are predominantly Hindu.

· It is celebrated at the same time as Holi and known as ‘Manipur’s version of Holi’.

· The festival marks the rejuvenation of the spirit of life and commemorates the birthday of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.

· On the first day ‘Yaoshang’ (a small thatch hut/straw hut) is constructed with bamboo and straws.

· The image of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu in the thatched hut is worshipped.

· Just after sunset the festival begins with Yaoshang Mei thaba, also known as ‘Burning of the Straw Hut’.

· Children visit neighbours to ask for monetary donations, called nakatheng.

· Events – During these 5 days sporting events happen during the day and traditional ‘thabal chongba’ dance in the night.

The five-day-long Yaoshang festival, Manipur’s version of Holi, has begun this year.

d) DRDO

The BrahMos missile is a type of supersonic cruise missile that can be launched from submarines, ships, airplanes, or land.
It is currently the fastest supersonic missile in the world and was developed by a partnership between India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Russia’s NPO Mashinostroyeniya, forming BrahMos Aerospace. Recently, Indian Navy successfully test fired the ship-launched version of the BrahMos missile.

Rashsundari Devi (1809-1899) – was not alive during Individual Satyagraha
· Rashsundari was an upper-caste Bengali woman who had no formal education and was not allowed to learn to read. However, at the age of 25, she taught herself to read in secret.

· S.N. Sundarambal of Tirupur was pregnant when she was arrested for taking part in Individual Satyagraha in the early 1940s. Hence, statement 1 is incorrect.

· Rashsundari Devi’s “Amar Jiban” (My Life) is the first full-scale autobiography written by an Indian woman, published in 1876. Hence, statement 2 is correct.

b) Ministry of Electronics and IT

The Digital India Bill is the proposed successor to the Information Technology Act, 2000, which currently regulates entities on the internet in India.
The Ministry of Electronics and IT will hold a public consultation at Bengaluru to present the basic guiding principles and architecture of this proposed legislation. The Digital India Bill aims to ensure that the internet in India is open, free from user harm and criminality, and that there is an institutional mechanism of accountability.
