a) Vietnam

The World’s Longest Glass Bottom Bridge was opened in Moc Chau district of the country’s Son La province, Vietnam. It is called Vietnam’s Bach Long pedestrian bridge, which means ‘white dragon’ in Vietnamese.
i. The Bridge is 632m (2,073ft) long and located 150m (492ft) above a huge jungle. It surpasses a 526m Glass Bottom Bridge in Guangdong, China and can support up to 450 people at a time and the floor of the bridge’s floor is made of three layers of French-produced tempered glass, each about 1.5 inches thick.

b) South Korea

South Korea’s National Intelligence Service became the first in Asia to join NATO’s cyber defence group. South Korea has been under Cyber-threats from China and North Korea.
NIS was accepted as a contributing participant for NATO’s Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence (CCDCOE). It was a cyber defence hub founded in Estonia, in 2008 and is focused on cyber-security research, training, and exercises.

b) Rajiv Kumar

Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar has been appointed as the new Chief Election Commissioner by the President of India. He will take charge of the office on May 15, 2022. He will succeed CEC Sushil Chandra who will demit from office on May 14.

c) BEL

Indian Army has put forward a proposal to buy 12 more Made-in-India ‘Swathi’ weapon-locating radars for China border. The radars have been developed indigenously by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and built by Bharat Electronics Limited.

The Solid Fuel Ducted Ramjet is a missile propulsion system that includes a thrust modulated ducted rocket with a reduced smoke nozzle-less missile booster. The thrust modulation in the system is achieved using a hot gas flow controller. The system utilises a solid fuelled air-breathing ramjet engine.
The SFDR-based propulsion enables the missile to intercept aerial threats at very long range at supersonic speeds.
It is an extremely long-range missile with a projected range of 350 km.
