d) Server resources owned by a nation-state outside its territorial boundaries

A data embassy refers to server resources owned and maintained by a nation-state outside its territorial boundaries, according to its own laws. They are a set of servers that store one country’s data and are under that country’s jurisdiction while being located in another country. It is a physical data centre of trusted nations which enjoy diplomatic immunity from local laws.

The government announced the setting up of Data embassies in its budget 2023-24.

a) Qualcomm

Snapdragon Satellite, which was launched recently, is the world’s first ‘satellite-based, two-way capable messaging solution’.
The solution works for smart-phones developed by Qualcomm in partnership with Iridium Inc. The technology was initially introduced at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2023. On a Snapdragon Satellite, emergency messaging will be activated on the next-gen smart-phones.

c) Sanjay K. Mehta

The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) has constituted a High-Level Committee headed by Sanjay K. Mehta (SK Mehta), Chairman of Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), Gandhidham, Gujarat, to draft the revised guidelines for the operation of Roll on-Roll off (Ro-Ro) and Roll on-Passenger (Ro-Pax) ferry service.
i. The committee would also simultaneously draft the Model Concession Agreement for Ro-Ro / Ro-Pax Terminal Operator and a Model License Agreement for the Operation of Ro-Ro/ Ro-Pax/ Fast Passenger Ferry.
• This aims to promote and develop the Ro-Ro ferry transportation ecosystem.
ii. This is one of the key initiatives and reforms pushed by the Ministry under its Sagarmala Programme to strengthen India’s socio-economic and regulatory environment.

c) Jupiter

Jupiter recently became the planet with the most moons, after a dozen new moons were discovered around it. The planet has surpassed Saturn with its list of 92 moons in all.
The spacecraft, dubbed Jupiter Icy Moons Explorer or Juice, has arrived at Europe’s Spaceport in French Guiana. It is a new mission from Earth is ready to explore the planet’s biggest moons and will be launched in April this year.

Rail Kaushal Vikas Yojana is a skill development scheme with a special focus on providing training for jobs that are relevant to the Railways. It is a sub-scheme under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY). Hence, statememt 1 is correct.

The training is provided free of cost to the candidates. A dedicated website has been developed for monitoring RKVY. There is no provision of providing employment under this scheme. However, this scheme is a skill development programme for the unemployed youths of India to impart technical training in various trades to enhance their employability and entrepreneurship. Hence, statement 2 is incorrect.

To empower youth by providing them entry level skill training in Railway Training Institutes, “Rail Kaushal Vikas Yojana” (RKVY) has been notified on Indian Railways.
