b) Steel technology

Green Steel is the steel with the lowest carbon footprint. It can be produced using HYBRIT technology. Hydrogen Breakthrough Ironmaking Technology (HYBRIT) is a groundbreaking effort to reduce CO2 emissions and de-carbonise the steel industry.

c) Ramgarh Vishdhari

The Ramgarh Vishdhari Sanctuary in Rajasthan was notified as India’s 52nd tiger reserve on May 16, 202, as per Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav. This has become the fourth tiger reserve in Rajasthan after Ranthambore, Sariska and Mukundra. The Ramgarh Vishdhari Sanctuary includes the tiger habitat between Ranthambore Tiger Reserve in the northeast and Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve on the southern side.

b) Kerala

Kerala will launch a state-owned over-the-top (OTT) platform ‘CSpace’ on November 1, 2022. The platform will offer an array of movies, short films and documentaries of their choice. The platform which is an initiative of Kerala State Film Development Corporation (KSFDC) on behalf of the state government, through video conferencing at a function in Kalabhavan Theatre, here on Wednesday.

c) Gujarat

The World Bank sanctioned USD 350 billion to Gujarat for the implementation of Systems Reform Endeavours for Transformed Health Achievement in Gujarat (SRESTHA-G).
Under the SRESTHA-Gujarat project, the government will undertake the initiative to expand the health services to the rural and urban people and strengthening the epidemic prevention system of the state. The five-year total cost of the project will be around USD 500 billion, of which USD 350 billion will be provided by the World Bank while the rest is borne by the state.

Neither early nor late onset of the monsoon is unusual, even though the forecast for this year is for earlier than would be usually expected.

Does an early onset foretell a good monsoon?

No, it does not — just as a delay does not foretell a poor monsoon. The onset is just an event that happens during the progress of the monsoon over the Indian subcontinent.

A delay of a few days, or perhaps the monsoon arriving a few days early, has no bearing on the quality or amount of rainfall, or its regional distribution across the country, during the four-month monsoon season.

And does a delayed onset mean cascading delays across the country?

A delay in onset over Kerala can potentially delay the arrival of the monsoon in other parts of the country, especially in the southern states, which normally start getting rain within days of the monsoon reaching the Kerala coast.

But again, a delayed onset over Kerala does not automatically or invariably mean delays in the arrival of the monsoon over the entire country.
