(c) Operation Ganga

The Government of India launched ‘Operation Ganga’ to evacuate around 15,000 Indians in Ukraine amid Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The Indian Government will bear the entire cost of the evacuation process of its citizens from war-torn Ukraine. The evacuation is being carried out from neighbouring countries, as Ukrainian air space is closed.

d) Reserve Bank of India

The Reserve Bank cancelled the Certificate of Registration (CoR) issued to P C Financial Services Pvt Ltd, New Delhi, which was primarily engaged in mobile app-based lending operations through an app called ‘Cashbean’.

The RBI said the CoR of the company has been cancelled on account of supervisory concerns such as gross violations of RBI directions on outsourcing and know your customer norms.

(d) Belarus

The Executive Board (EB) of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) reiterated IOC’s strong condemnation of the breach of the Olympic Truce by the Russian government as well as Belarus government for supporting and helping Russian attacks in Ukraine. The Olympic Truce had begun seven days before the start of the Winter Olympic Games, on 4 February 2022, and is scheduled to end seven days after the closing of the Paralympic Games, which will take place between March 4-13.

a) Rafael Nadal

Rafael Nadal continued his winning streak by beating Cameron Norrie 6-4, 6-4 and winning the men’s singles title at Mexico Open 2022. The tennis star had previously won the Australian Open after beating Russian opponent Daniil Medvedev in a grueling final. He, so far, remains unbeaten in 2022.

b) Vienna

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is an international organization, which seeks to promote peaceful use of nuclear energy, and to inhibit its use for nuclear weapons. It is headquartered at Vienna.
The IAEA’s 35-nation Board of Governors has called for an emergency meeting about Ukraine. Board members Canada and Poland called the meeting at the request of Ukraine, which is not on the Board.
