d) ‘Asthma Care for All’

World Asthma Day is observed on May 02, 2023, and this event is conducted by the Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA). GINA is WHO’s partner organisation that aims at spreading awareness of the life-threatening disease Asthma. This medical organisation was discovered in the year 1993.

a) Backward Classes

Article 340 of the Constitution of India provides for the appointment of a Commission to investigate the conditions for the improvement of backward classes.

The President may by order appoint a Commission comprising of such persons that he thinks fit to investigate the conditions and background of socially and educationally backward classes that lie within the territory of India.

Article 340 of the Constitution resulted in two Backward Classes commissions:

-Kaka Kalelkar Commission (1953-1955)
-Mandal Commission (1978-80)

c) Rail Vikas Nigam Limited

Navratna Companies are public sector companies that are given financial autonomy to invest up to Rs.1,000 crore without the Indian government’s approval.
The Union Finance Ministry recently upgraded the status of the Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) from Category-I Miniratna to Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE).

b) United Kingdom

NET Zero Innovation Virtual Centre

· Countries – India and United Kingdom.

· It will provide a platform to bring stakeholders from both countries together to work in some of the focus areas in Science & Tech.

· It includes Decarbonization of manufacturing process & transport systems and Green Hydrogen as renewable source.

· It also helps both countries to reach the Paris Agreement climate change collective targets to limit the global warming to acceptable levels.

India-UK Science & Innovation Council meeting held recently paved way for announcing India-UK NET Zero Innovation Virtual Centre.

d) Both 1 and 2

Types of Hydrogen based on Extraction Methods:
· Grey Hydrogen: It is produced via coal or lignite gasification (black or brown), or via a process called steam methane reformation (SMR) of natural gas or methane (grey). These tend to be mostly carbon-intensive processes.

· Blue Hydrogen: It is produced via natural gas or coal gasification combined with carbon capture storage (CCS) or carbon capture use (CCU) technologies to reduce carbon emissions.

· Green Hydrogen: It is produced using electrolysis of water with electricity generated by renewable energy. The carbon intensity ultimately depends on the carbon neutrality of the source of electricity (i.e., the more renewable energy there is in the electricity fuel mix, the “greener” the hydrogen produced).

Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways recently said that as per the National Hydrogen Mission of the country, Green Hydrogen/Ammonia bunkers and refuelling facilities will be established in all major ports by 2035.
