b) UNHCR

The UN refugee agency, UNHCR released the ‘2022 Global Trends Report’. As per the report, 100 million people have now been forced to flee their homes globally.
UNHCR also highlighted worldwide food insecurity, the climate crisis, war in Ukraine and other emergencies from Africa to Afghanistan as leading causes. As per the report, the number displaced by war, violence, persecution and human rights abuses stood at 89.3 million, by the end of 2021.

b) India

Europe’s biggest start-up conference – Vivatech 2020 has recognized India as the ‘Country of the year”
Union Minister of Electronics and IT Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurated the India pavilion at the Vivatech technology exhibition. Around 65 start-ups from India are participating in the conference with government support. India has created 100 unicorns in few years while Europe has created 26 unicorns.

c) Google

A senior engineer at Google claimed that the company’s artificial intelligence-based chatbot Language Model for Dialogue Applications (LaMDA) had become “sentient”.

Google first announced LaMDA at its flagship developer conference I/O in 2021 as its generative language model for dialogue applications which can ensure that the Assistant would be able to converse on any topic. In simple terms, it means that LaMDA can have a discussion based on a user’s inputs thanks completely to its language processing models which have been trained on large amounts of dialogue.

b) Central Board of Direct Taxes

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) recently notified the cost inflation index (CII) for FY 2022-23 as 331.
For the previous year (FY 2021-22) CII was notified as 317. The CII is used to calculate an asset’s inflation-adjusted cost price, with which Long-term capital gains or losses are then calculated. This notification will apply to the Assessment Year 2023-24 and future years.

c) ESA

European Space Agency’s Gaia mission has released a set of new data, which has revealed the phenomena of ‘starquakes’.
Starquakes are massive movements on the surface of stars similar to earthquake. The star-mapping Gaia probe has covered almost 1.8 billion stars in the Milky Way galaxy. The data has also revealed the largest chemical map of the entire Milky Way, showing the DNA of millions of stars.
