a) Following an expansionary monetary policy

Easing conditions relating to external commercial borrowing will lead to higher borrowing abroad and would temporarily reduce the deficit of forex in India preventing the slide of rupee.

Encouraging Indian borrowers to issue rupee-denominated Masala Bonds is a measure of the RBI/government to stop the slide of Indian rupee as it does not put pressure on our currency through borrowing dollars as the bond issue would be rupee denominated.

Following an expansionary monetary policy may lead to lower interest rates thereby increasing the inflation with higher imports through higher spending of the government and therefore the slide of rupee takes place.

Curbing imports of non-essential goods and promoting exports would help control imports and thus the depreciation of the rupee by increasing the growth with promoting exports.

c) France

The “Varuna” bilateral naval exercise between India and France is being conducted on the Western Seaboard.
The exercise began in 1993 and was given its name in 2001. This 21st edition of the exercise will include advanced air defence exercises and other maritime operations. The exercise has been regarded as a symbol of the strategic relationship between the countries.

c) Decarbonizing heavy industries

First Movers Coalition is a flagship public-private partnership launched by US and WEF to clean up the most carbon-intensive sectors. The coalition also saw 50 new corporate members with collective market cap of USD 8.5 trillion joining the force. Since it was launched at COP26, the First Movers Coalition has brought together global companies with supply chains across carbon-intensive sectors. India has joined the First Movers Coalition todecarbonise the heavy industry and long-distance transport sectors that are responsible for 30 per cent of global emissions.

India participated in the First Movers Coalition (FMC) Leadership Meeting of the World Economic Forum recently.

d) Telangana

The Women Safety Wing of Telangana Police recently launched the ‘Cyber Congress initiative’. It aims to train, empower and equip the young generation the knowledge and skills required to protect themselves and their communities from cyber crimes.
The students are trained to become ‘cyber ambassadors’ in the region.

c) 2 and 3 only

Forest Advisory Committee is a statutory body constituted under the Forest (Conservation) Act 1980. It comes under the administrative control of the Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change (MoEF&CC). Hence, statement 1 is incorrect.

It is an apex body tasked with adjudicating requests by the industry to raze forest land for commercial gains. It considers questions on the diversion of forest land for non-forest uses such as mining, industrial projects, townships. It also advises the government on the issue of granting forest clearances. However, its role is advisory. Hence, statement 2 is correct.

All proposals involving up to forty hectares (40ha) of forest land, clearance is granted by Regional Empowered Committee (REC) and proposals above forty hectares(40ha) of forest land will be granted by the Forest Advisory Committee (FAC) at central government (MoEF&CC).
Hence, statement 3 is correct.

The Forest Advisory Committee (FAC) of the Union Environment Ministry has asked the Arunachal Pradesh government to submit a revised request for permission to divert 1,165 hectares of forest land for the Etalin hydropower project.
