The Indian origin author Manjeet Mann’s book titled ‘The Crossing’ was shortlisted for the United Kingdom’s (UK) Yoto Carnegie Medal 2022.
i. The Crossing’ is a children’s book, which is a story of a little girl’s friendship with an Eritrean refugee and the book was published by Penguin UK in 2021.
ii. The book also won the 2022 Costa Children’s Book Award.

The Medal recognises outstanding reading experiences created through writing and illustration in books for children and young people.

a) Hydrogen

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari has inaugurated the world’s most advanced technology-developed Green Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV) Toyota Mirai at New Delhi, India. Toyota Mirai is India’s first Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV), which is completely powered by Hydrogen.
i. This launch is a pilot project taking place in Delhi by Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt Ltd (TKM) and International Center for Automotive Technology (ICAT).
ii. In Japanese, the word ‘Mirai’ means ‘future’. Toyota Mirai was launched in 2014 and was one of the world’s first hydrogen fuel EV.
iii. The Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) will be supplying Hydrogen for this vehicle.

c) IISc-Bengaluru

India’s first Artificial Intelligence & Robotics Technology Park (ARTPARK) for creating a better world through an inclusive Artificial Intelligence (AI) & Robotics revolution has been inaugurated at Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru, Karnataka.
i. It was launched by the Government of Karnataka’s Minister for Information, Biotechnology, and Science and Technology, Dr. C.N. Ashwath Narayan.
ii. It is a joint initiative of IISc Bengaluru and AI Foundry, Bengaluru in a public-private collaborative model to promote technology innovations in the field of AI & Robotics.
iii. ARTPARK is a one-of-its kind, a not-for-profit foundation with a total seed capital of 230 crores, which is funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India and the Government of Karnataka.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) is the apex statutory body for disaster management in India. Hence, statement 1 is correct.
The NDMA was formally constituted on 27th September 2006, in accordance with the Disaster Management Act, 2005 with the Prime Minister as its Chairperson and nine other members, and one such member to be designated as Vice-Chairperson. Hence, statement 2 is not correct.
Its primary purpose is to coordinate response to natural or man-made disasters and for capacity-building in disaster resiliency and crisis response. It is also the apex body to lay down policies, plans and guidelines for Disaster Management to ensure timely and effective response to disasters.

c) Abanindranath Tagore

Abanindranath Tagore believed in the traditional Indian techniques of painting. His philosophy rejected the “materialistic” art of the West and came back to Indian traditional art forms. He was influenced by the Mughal school of painting as well as Whistler’s Aestheticism. Most of his works revolved around Hindu philosophy. Bharat Mata, The Passing of Shah Jahan (1900), My Mother (1912–13), Fairyland illustration (1913), Journey’s End (circa 1913) were his famous paintings. Some of his books like ‘BudoAngla’, ‘KhirerPutul’ and ‘Rajkahini’ are best examples of Bengali children’s literature.
