c) Vietnam

India has gifted indigenously built missile corvette ‘INS Kirpan’ to Vietnam. INS Kirpan is a Khukri-class corvette. During this, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh also held talks with his Vietnamese counterpart General Phan Van Gang. Vietnam is a Southeast Asian country, its capital is Hanoi.

d) Europe

The European Green Deal, initiated in 2019, consists of a collection of policy initiatives aimed at guiding the European Union (EU) towards achieving climate neutrality by the year 2050.
Its current mandate is for the region to achieve climate neutrality by the middle of this century. The European Parliament’s environment committee voted 44-44 on an amendment tabled by the European People’s Party to reject the Nature Restoration Law.

b) Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC)

The Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) summit end of this year will adopt a Bangkok vision 2030 which would be overarching kind of document and give direction to the organisation.

Thailand has put forth the Bangkok vision 2030 which seeks to propel BIMSETC towards a region that is prosperous, resilient and open… moving us in a forward-looking trajectory for sustainable and balanced growth.

The grouping comprises Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Thailand. In 2022, the BIMSTEC charter was adopted which lays the foundation for it to function as a full-fledged organisation.

a) Brahmaputra River

The Beki river originates in Bhutan, and it is one of the right bank tributaries of the Brahmaputra river.
· This river is also known as the Kurisu river in Bhutan.

· A large portion of the Beki river flows in the state of Assam and ultimately mix with Bay of Bengal.

· It flows through the Manas National Park.

· The river and its drainage channels flow through the plains of Assam for about 85 km and drain an area of 26,243 sq. km. approximately.

· Beki river is rich in bio-diversities. It is the home of a variety of food fishes’ species, ornamental fishes’ species, amphibians, reptiles, birds, insects etc.

· Discharging a huge amount of water every year, the river turns dangerous during monsoon season.

The flood situation in Assam was recently worsened as nearly 1.20 lakh people in 20 districts have been affected by the deluge.

c) Goa

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant launched the mascot ‘Moga’ of the 37th edition of the National Games at a launch ceremony held at the Goa Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium. The 37th edition of the National Games will be organized at various places in the state of Goa. National Games in India are organized by the Indian Olympic Association.
