a) International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD)

Tejaswini Rural Women Empowerment Programme implemented by the UN-affiliated International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) in Madhya Pradesh.

Tejaswini programme showed that growing millets meant a nearly 10 times increase in income from ₹1,800 per month in 2013-14 to ₹16,277 in 2020-21, with better food security. Women were key to villages adopting millets, as they were able to demonstrate that millets were easier to grow and led to better outcomes.

· The Yanomami territory is the largest Indigenous land in Brazil, covering an area of about 96,000 square kilometers in the Amazon rainforest.
· Yanomami region, stretches across Roraima and Amazonas states in the northwest corner of Brazil’s Amazon, has been a subject of interest for illegal gold miners for decades.

· It is home to about 30,000 Yanomami people, who live in hundreds of villages scattered across the region.

· The Yanomami are one of the most isolated and culturally diverse Indigenous groups in the world, with their languages, customs and beliefs.

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva-led Brazilian government has promised to speed up the expulsion of illegal miners in the country’s largest indigenous territory, Yanomami.

Bihan Mela is an annual festival celebrated by the Kondh tribe in Odisha’s Nayagarh district. Literally known as seed festival, it has been celebrated since 2019.
The event is participated by farmers from as many as 40 villages in Dasapalla region, surrounded by hills and forests.

Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve
· Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve, popularly known as Darrah Wildlife Sanctuary, is spread across 4 districts – Bundi, Kota, Jhalawar & Chittorgarh in Rajasthan.

· The park is situated in a valley formed by two parallel mountains viz. Mukundra and Gargola.

Similipal Tiger Reserve (STR)
· STR is located within the Mayurbhanj District, in the Northernmost part of Odisha.

· It is surrounded by high plateaus and hills.

· It was declared a ‘Tiger Reserve’ in the year 1956and included under the national conservation programme ‘Project Tiger’ in 1973.

· The STR, along with a ‘transitional area’ of 2250 sq. km, has been included as a part of the World Network of Biosphere Reserves by UNESCO in the year 2009.

· It is the only landscape in the world that is home to melanistic tigers.

Melanistic animals

· They are animals with an increased amount of the dark pigment melanin in their skin, hair and feathers, etc., giving them a dark appearance.

· Melanism is a genetic mutation that occurs in many different types of animals, including mammals, reptiles and insects. Hence, statement 2 is incorrect.

A nine-year-old full-term pregnant tigress recently died at the Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve (MHTR).
