Meet Priyanka Mohite, the first Indian woman to climb five 8000 m above peaks :
Priyanka Mohite has become the first Indian woman to scale five peaks above 8,000 metres (m) after she climbed the third highest mountain in the world Mount Kanchenjunga (8,586 m), situated in the eastern Himalayas on the border between Sikkim state, northeastern India, and eastern Nepal on May 5, 2022.
Other Peaks Scaled:
i.In 2013, She climbed the world’s highest peak Mount Everest (8,849 m) located in the Mahalangur Himal sub-range of the Himalayas between the borders of China and Nepal.
ii.In 2016, She climbed Mount Makalu (8,485 m) the fifth highest mountain in the world, located in the Mahalangur Himalayas southeast of Mount Everest, on the border between Nepal and Tibet Autonomous Region, China, and Mount Kilimanjaro (5,895 metres) located in Tanzania, Africa.
iii.In 2018, She Scaled Mount Lhotse (8,516 m) the fourth highest mountain in the world, located between Tibet and the Khumbu region of Nepal.
iv.In April 2021, she had scaled Mount Annapurna (8,091 m), the 10th highest mountain peak in the world located at the Gandaki Province, north-central Nepal and had become the first Indian woman climber to achieve the feat.
About Priyanka Mohite:
i.Priyanka Mohite was from Satara District of Maharashtra, started to scale mountains in the Sahyadri range of Maharashtra as a teenager.
ii.In 2012, she scaled Bandarpunch, a mountain massif of the Garhwal division of the Himalayas, in Uttarakhand and In 2015, she scaled Mount Menthosa (6,443 m) which is the second-highest peak in the Lahaul and Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh.
iv.In 2021, The Government of India(GoI) awarded her with the Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award 2020 for outstanding contribution in the field of land adventure.
v.She was also the recipient of the Maharashtra Government’s Shiv Chhatrapati State award for adventure sports for 2017-2018.

सिक्किम राज्य, पूर्वोत्तर भारत और पूर्वी नेपाल की सीमा पर पूर्वी हिमालय में स्थित दुनिया के तीसरे सबसे ऊंचे पर्वत माउंट कंचनजंगा (8,586 मीटर) पर 5 मई, 2022 को चढ़ने के बाद प्रियंका मोहिते 8,000 मीटर (मीटर) से ऊपर की पांच चोटियों को फतह करने वाली पहली भारतीय महिला बन गई हैं।

i.2013 में, उसने चीन और नेपाल की सीमाओं के बीच हिमालय की महालंगुर हिमालय उप-श्रेणी में स्थित दुनिया की सबसे ऊंची चोटी माउंट एवरेस्ट (8,849 मीटर) पर चढ़ाई की।
ii.2016 में,उसने नेपाल और तिब्बत स्वायत्त क्षेत्र, चीन (5,895 मीटर) की सीमा पर माउंट एवरेस्ट के दक्षिण-पूर्व में महालंगुर हिमालय में स्थित दुनिया के पांचवें सबसे ऊंचे पर्वत माउंट मकालू (8,485 मीटर) और माउंट किलिमंजारो तंजानिया, अफ्रीका में स्थित पर चढ़ाई की ।
iii.2018 में, उन्होंने तिब्बत और नेपाल के खुंबू क्षेत्र के बीच स्थित दुनिया के चौथे सबसे ऊंचे पर्वत माउंट ल्होत्से (8,516 मीटर) पर चढ़ाई की।
iv.अप्रैल 2021 में, उसने माउंट अन्नपूर्णा (8,091 मीटर), गंडकी प्रांत, उत्तर-मध्य नेपाल में स्थित दुनिया की 10वीं सबसे ऊंची पर्वत चोटी पर चढ़ाई की थी, और यह उपलब्धि हासिल करने वाली पहली भारतीय महिला पर्वतारोही बन गई थी।
प्रियंका मोहिते के बारे में:
i.प्रियंका मोहिते महाराष्ट्र के सतारा जिले से थीं और उन्होंने एक किशोर के रूप में महाराष्ट्र के सह्याद्री रेंज में पहाड़ों की चढ़ाई शुरू कर दी थी।
ii.2012 में, उन्होंने उत्तराखंड में हिमालय के गढ़वाल डिवीजन के एक पर्वतीय पर्वत बंदरपंच को फतह किया और 2015 में, उन्होंने माउंट मेंथोसा (6,443 मीटर) पर चढ़ाई की, जो हिमाचल प्रदेश के लाहौल और स्पीति जिले की दूसरी सबसे ऊंची चोटी है।
iii.2021 में, भारत सरकार (GoI) ने उन्हें भूमि साहसिक कार्य के क्षेत्र में उत्कृष्ट योगदान के लिए तेनजिंग नोर्गे राष्ट्रीय साहसिक पुरस्कार 2020 से सम्मानित किया।
iv.वह 2017-2018 के लिए साहसिक खेलों के लिए महाराष्ट्र सरकार के शिव छत्रपति राज्य पुरस्कार की प्राप्तकर्ता भी थीं।
