UPSC Notification 2023 (Released) for 1105 Civil Services Exam (CSE) Posts: Get direct link, steps to apply here
UPSC 2023 Notification: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has posted the notification and opened the online application for the Civil Service Exam (CSE) 2023 or Indian Administrative Service Exam 2023 (IAS 2023) at upsc.gov.in. On or before February 21, 2023, graduates can submit their UPSC CSE Application Form online at upsconline.nic.in. The applicant must first register at One Time Registration (OTR), and only then may they proceed to fill out the online application for the exam. This year, the commission is filling 1105 vacancies, including 37 for people in the benchmark disability category, 15 for people with locomotor disabilities, such as those with cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, victims of acid attacks, and muscular dystrophy, and 10 for people with multiple disabilities.
Candidates who register for the UPSC IAS 2023 Recruitment will be called to sit in the CSE Prelims Exam on May 28, 2023. (Sunday). The UPSC Civil Service Exam will be held at a number of authorized locations around the nation.
The IAS examination is held annually by UPSC. Each year, lakhs of students take the exam. The commission has also posted the UPSC Indian Forest Service (IFS) 2023 Exam Notification on its website along with the UPSC Civil Service 2023 Notification.

UPSC 2023 Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification: The applicant should be a graduate. There is no minimum % required for graduation.
UPSC Age Limit 2023
The candidates can check the category-wise minimum and maximum age limit in the table given below:

UPSC Nationality:
For IAS, IFS, IPS – A candidate must be a citizen of India.
For other services – A candidate must be either:
- a citizen of India, or
- a subject of Nepal, or
- a subject of Bhutan, or
- a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
- a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
UPSC CSE Number of Attempts
The candidate can attempt the UPSC IAS Exam six times. However, candidates who belong to SC/ST category can appear at unlimited times and OBC category candidates can attend 9 times.
UPSC 2023 Selection Process
The selection will be made on the basis of:
- UPSC IAS Prelims 2023: The Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination (Objective Type) will be conducted for the candidates who would apply for the exam.
- UPSC IAS Mains 2023: Those who clear the UPSC CSE Pre Exam will be called for Civil Services (Main) Examination for the selection of candidates for the various Services and posts.
- UPSC IAS Interview 2023: UPSC interview is the last round for the selection meant to test the applicant’s critical thinking.
UPSC Prelims Exam Pattern 2023
- Subject – There will be two papers (General Studies and CSAT)
- Number of Questions and Marks: GS will have 100 questions for 200 marks and CSAT will have 80 questions for 200 marks
- Time – Each paper will be given 2 hours to complete the test
- Negative Marking – 1/3 mark shall be deducted for every incorrect answer

UPSC Mains Exam Pattern 2023
The main exam will consist of 9 papers of conventional essay type in the subjects set out in sub-section (B) of Section II out of which two papers will be of qualifying in nature.

UPSC 2023 Interview
The Interview/Personality Test will carry 275 marks (with no minimum qualifying marks).
UPSC 2023 Admit Card
UPSC will release the UPSC Civil Service 2023 Admit Card three weeks before the commencement of the examination on the official website of UPSC Online i.e. https://upsconline.nic.in. UPSC CSE Pre Admit Card shall be released in the month of May 2023.
UPSC 2023 Result
UPSC will release the PDF containing the details of all shortlisted candidates on its official website after conducting the exam.
The candidates’ final ranking would be based on their marks in the Civil Services (Main) Examination and the Interview Round. Candidates will be assigned to the different Services based on their exam rank and the preferences they indicated for the various Services and posts.
