Vidisha becomes the 1st Indian district to implement cutting-edge 5G use cases
Vidisha, a district of Madhya Pradesh, became the first district in India to execute ground-breaking 5G use cases proposed by startups, thanks to a combined effort by the Vidisha District Administration and the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), Department of Telecommunications (DoT), under the guidance of Additional Secretary (Telecom) & Administrator USOF.
Program Details
Through the Telecom Startups & MSMEs Mission (TSuM) & 5G Vertical Engagement Partnership Program, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has been fostering partnerships between Digital Communication Tech startups & SMEs and potential user communities, such as State governments, Smart cities, aspirational districts, etc (VEPP). This is done to hasten the digital transformation process across socioeconomic sectors.
The “5G use case promotional pilot” is being spearheaded by the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), DoT, which is a trailblazer in new Digital communication Technologies, to apply 5G/4G/IoT innovative techniques of Startups & SMEs at Vidisha (Aspirational district), Madhya Pradesh, with a primary focus on Health, Agriculture, Diary, Education & Skill Development, benefiting the Vidisha community as a whole.
Startups showed the following 5G/IoT application cases in collaboration with C-DOT :
- C-DOT (R&D Arm of DoT): One-stop platform that combines all health suits and allows for remote consultation and e-learning.
- Superceuticals: 5G/4G enabled smart health kiosk for monitoring vitals and performing tests almost instantaneously.
- Ambupod: 5G/4G Enabled Auto Ambulance with basic life safety support and vitals measurement with remote doctor support.
- LogyAI: Cataract Eye Screening application for smartphones for rapid and effective cataract disease screening.
- Easiofy: AR/VR-3D visualisation application for Lung and Brain scans (CT/XRAY, etc.) for accurate diagnosis.
- TechXR: AR/VR- 3D immersive experience kit for students to improve learning and teaching tool for innovative teaching methods.
- BKC Aggregators: Fasal Salah App: Personalized agricultural advice for farmers to make informed decisions, connecting with Mandis/Traders, state subsidies/crop insurance.
- Dvara- Surabhi: Dairy farmers can utilise a unique biometric muzzle identification of cattle to anticipate their health status, which will be used by state departments and insurance companies.
The aforementioned use cases will be implemented as part of the 5G use case promotional pilot at community and district health facilities, model schools, agri and dairy farmers, and skill development centres for a duration of 1 year, with the possibility of extension based on demand. BharatNet internet will also be used to power these digital solutions in order to continue offering Vidisha user communities their services without interruption.
